Our Food Bank is supported entirely through the generosity of our community. We receive no government funding, relying instead on individuals, churches, businesses, and community partners who believe that no one should have to face hunger alone.

In addition to our regular shopping days, we provide emergency food assistance whenever an urgent need arises. Whether someone is newly housed, waiting for benefits to begin, or facing an unexpected hardship, we work to ensure that food is available when it is needed most.

Food Bank

Dignity Is About Choice.

At Friends of the Cecil, we believe that receiving food assistance should never mean giving up the ability to choose. Rather than handing out pre-packed bags of groceries, our Food Bank is organized like a small neighborhood market, where residents can select the foods that best fit their needs, preferences, and dietary requirements.

No two people are alike. Some are managing chronic health conditions, others have limited cooking facilities, and everyone has their own tastes and preferences. By offering a grocery store-style experience, we recognize that dignity begins with the freedom to choose.

From time to time, our community partners also provide freshly prepared meals and other ready-to-eat foods. These generous donations are especially meaningful for residents with limited cooking facilities or those who simply need a nourishing meal that day.

Like everything we do at Friends of the Cecil, the Food Bank is about more than groceries. Shopping days create opportunities for neighbors to reconnect, volunteers to check in with residents, and conversations to happen naturally. These simple interactions strengthen relationships, reduce isolation, and reinforce the sense of community that is at the heart of our work.
